An ancient approach to the new and the common
Science has been able to explain much about life. The way the way the body works, the way the mind works, the way the universe works. These understandings do much to improve the way we live, when correctly applied.
That your purpose here has a significe, that you matter, has been associated with religious practice and theological thought, likely from the begining of thought. These practices have been honed over thousands of years, using a results based methodolgy, to improve he lives of the practioneers.
Blending these two perspectives, a purely scientific view of practice and life, with a greater purpose view of scientific reality is at the heart of Church of the Scientific Theist.
The Church of the Scientific Theist does not require the rejection of another religion or practice. You can be a member of the Church of the Scientific Theists and the religion of your history, your family, or your choice. Members often profess a Primary religion, where Scientific Theism is a secondary or reference religion.
What to believe
There are no required beliefs, you can not be told what you should believe. There is only the hope that you lead a happy and fulfilling life. Science and Theology are key components of the happy and fulfilling part. Personally discovered and tailored practices that sustain the current you, that comfort and integrate the past you, and that are modified to fit and create the ever changing you of the future.
There is NO requirement to change a current religious affiliation or practice. If you have a religious practice, you are encouraged to practice with a greater adherance and a greater attention to detail. The science behind most religious practices is solid, it is only through a strict practice that those revelations are often realized.
There is a requirement to look at the world, and at life, with a respectul and scientific mind. To lead a Scientific Theist life you must have some method to measure and track things that are important, to understand progress and regression, and to adapt as appropriate. Thoughts, beleifs, practices, and rituals which do not provide a scientificly observable benefit to self, to others, or to a community will eventuaally fall away. Those that dohave benefit are studied, practiced and promoted. Keep a journal.
